The car radio mounting assembly is based on a special, bent retaining spring (20). The spring is attached to the bottom wall of the facia compartment (11) by two of its bent sections (21, 22) and held by the front lip of the compartment by the front end of the spring (23). The bottom wall of the compartment is slotted to accommodate the spring. The front end of the spring also has an angled section (27). This engages with a specially shaped recess in the front underside of the radio receiver. A curved leaf spring (29) in the top wall of the compartment takes up any play between the case of the radio and the compartment wall.
