<p>The braked safety-wheel, partic. for gliders or powered gliders, comprises a flanged disc with radial ribs projecting axially both ways froma central wall to form segmental recesses. This component, a thin-walled light alloy filigree casting, is centred by its inner and outer rims bearing against the substantially C-section hub. An axial flange around the hub outer rim, away from the disc, houses a perlitic-iron ring cast into it, forming the drum for conventional brake shoes.</p> |
