PURPOSE:To enable polar organic molecules to be removed from solution of inorganic salts at high selection rates by contacting and crosslinking the polyamine thin film provided on a liquid-permeable and porous substrate with the solution of polyalycyclic dicarbonyl halide solution which is reactive with NH2 groups and NH groups of polyamine. CONSTITUTION:The polyamine (e.g., polyethylene imine of molecular weight 6000 or over) thin film provided on a liquid-permeable and porous substrate is contacted and crosslinked with the undermentioned compound. This solution is the solution comprising dissolving polyalycyclic dicarbonyl halide [e.g., 2(3), 6(7)-dichlorocarbonyl-perhydro-1, 4; 8,5-naphthalene] which is reactive with the NH2 groups and NH groups of polyamine in a solvent (e.g. hexane) of 6.9 to 8.7 in solubility parameter. This method enables suspendable solids deposited on the membrane surfaces to be readily removed by a hot water cleaning method and yet it obviates change in high degrees of selectivity and high permeation flux characteristic despite repeatition of this hot water cleaning. |
