PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A NOVEL AVERMENTIN COMPOUND

Avermectin and milbemycin derivs. of formula (I) is new. In (I), the double dotted line is an opt. double bond when the double bond is absent R1 is H or OH and when it is present R1 is absont; R2 is anα-branched 3-8C alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl or alkylthioalkyl gps.; R3 is H or CH3; R4 is H or (II) but R2 is not isopropyl or sec- butyl; when R4 is H, R1 is OH and the double bond is absent then R2 is not 2-butene-2-yl or (4methyl)-2-yl. (I) are useful for broad spectrum antiparasitic agents.
