1485818 Wrapping machine GD SpA 19 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 55051/74 Heading B8C A wrapping machine comprises a wrapping head 18 arranged for intermittent movement and provided with a pair of opposed gripping jaws 19d, 19e to grip a U-wrapped product across its major side surfaces, the jaws forming a channel section when closed, one of the jaws 19e which forms part only of one of the opposed walls of the channel being arranged to be moved clear of the product at a station in the head movement, a pressure pad 53 at this station to press the product against the base of the channel, and a folder finger 56 at the station to fold a free edge portion of the wrapper between the product and the gripping jaw 19e to complete a tubular wrap of the product. A candy rope is fed continuously along a channel 23 by rollers 28-31 under sizing discs 25, 26 to an accumulation portion 24 and thence by intermittently diverse rollers 32, 33 into pockets 21 of a wheel 20. Shears 22 cut the rope into sweets. After each pocket has been moved through 90 degrees a pusher 39 pushes the sweet out of the pocket, along a guide 34, against a wrapper supplied by a device 38 and between a pair of the gripping jaws. 19d, 19e. One limb only of the U-wrapped wrapper extends beyond the product. This limb is folded against the front side of the product by an arcuate member 49 as the head rotates. Each gripping jaw 19d forms the bottom of a channel section and the remaining part of the one opposed wall while each gripping jaw 19e is pivoted by a cam (40) on an oscillatable sleeve (41) during insertion and removal of the product and while the finger 56 folds the end limb of the wrapper by the side of the jaw 19e. The sleeve (41), the finger 56 and pad 53 and the end folding mechanism are operated by cranks mounted on a common shaft. Instead of the ends of the wrapper being folded they may be twisted by fingers 57, 58. |
