Process for manufacturing tubes of great length and large diameter, in which the elements required for forming such a tube are applied to a substructure, which is guided along a curved path, with an advancing or an advancing and rotating movement, the track line of the curved path having the shape of a preferably closed curve. The tube produced is present in a single layer along the path and can thus be vulcanised by electrical means, expediently by passing current through the metal reinforcing inserts.
