A transporter for broken down vehicles can be either in the form of a trailer or mounted directly on a lorry. The transporter has a braced framework supporting an overhead beam (3) for a pulley block (4) and winch(1). The outer end of the framework is supported by a pair of telescopic struts (5) which can be locked by pins (16) at a convenient length. The floor (8) of the transporter is mounted on a pivot so that the outer end can be swung down to form a ramp to facilitate loading.
