发明名称 VESSEL FOR SCAVENGING OIL
摘要
A vessel (10) for scavenging oil from oil slicks has a twin-hulled construction in which the hulls provide both buoyancy and the means of removing the oil floating at the surface. The hulls comprise twin cylindrical shells (12, 14) that are mounted about their respective axes (16). The shells (12, 14) are sealed to provide buoyancy and their outer surfaces are oleophilic to accrete oil thereto. As the vessel (10) moves forwardly the cylindrical shells (12, 14) are rotated, transversely o the direction of movement, in opposite directions A longitudinal trough (34, 70) is mounted between the shells (12, 14) to collect oil and each shell (12, 14) has a cooperating doctor blade (36, 38, 74) arrangement to guide oil removed from the shell (12, 14) into the trough (34, 70). Arrangements are described for both inwardly and outwardly rotating shells. The trough (34, 70) may cam y a stabilizing keel (72) and a trough structure is described for separating admixed oil and water. The forward end (18) of the vessel may be provided with structures (28) for guiding oil between the shells or along their outer sides. The possibility of using hydrophilic surfaces is discussed.
