Raising and lowering pipes over wells - by frame carrying upper and lower grips respectively rotatable and mobile vertically allowing step=by=step movement without twisting

A handling device for lowering and raising cable or flexible or rigid pipes comprises an upper grip and a lower grip capable of being opened and closed alternately. It incorporates a frame supporting at its upper part a grip which is fixed vertically wrt the frame and which can rotate its vertical axis and a lower grip placed under the upper grip which cannot rotate and is vertically movable wrt the frame. The device is partic. useful for lowering and raising cables or pipes in wells of great depth in drilling installations in mining, hydraulic and hydrocarbon explorations. It is usable as well with flexible pipes as with rigid pipes whereas existing devices are satisfactory only for rigid pipes. The device does not cause degradation of the tubes and can be transported as a compact unit on a vehicle.
