PURPOSE:To check any closure due to minuteness on a zinc electrode surface as well as to aim at improvement in a cycle characteristic, by adding lignosulfonic acid chloride into a zinc active material and kneading them together. CONSTITUTION:As a zinc active material, zinc oxide 45 wt part, metal zinc 45 wt part, mercury oxide 5 wt part and lignosulfonic acid sodium are added as much as 4 wt% to the zinc active material and mixed altogether. A binding agent of polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion 5 wt part and water are added to this mixture and kneaded together, while a calender sheet produced by rolling is stuck together with both sides of a punching metal collector, and compressed by a roller, securing a zinc electrode 2, then this electrode 2 is combined with a sintered nickel electrode 1, forming a nicket-zinc storage battery. With this constitution, a surface part of the electrode 2 comes to porosity, checking any closure due to minuteness, thus charge-discharge efficiency is improved and an excellent cycle characteristic is securable. |
