Processes for preparing cyclohexadiene derivatives

Described is a process for preparing cyclohexadiene derivatives having the generic formula: <IMAGE> by means of reacting a compound having the structure: <IMAGE> with mineral acid selected from the group consisting of dilute hydrochloric acid, dilute phosphoric acid and dilute sulfuric acid; wherein R is C1-C5 alkyl. The products produced by this process are useful for their organoleptic properties in perfumes, foodstuffs and tobaccos.
