PURPOSE:To save the power consumption by using an output signal of a timer circuit using an output signal from a synchronizing signal detection circuit as an initializing signal so as to shut off the power supply for a receiver and a display device. CONSTITUTION:A synchronizing detection circuit 3 uses a video detection signal P from a receiver 1 as an input signal, extracts only the synchronizing signal part only as a pulse and outputs the result as the synchronizing detection signal T. A timer circuit 4 is initialized by the synchronizing detection signal T and an output signal A of the poweron set circuit 5 operated only at application of power, the count is stopped after a prescribed time to output an inverted control signal C. When the television broadcast is finished at midnight, since the signal T is inverted, the timer circuit 4 inverts the control signal C after a prescribed time to cut off a switch circuit 8, then no voltage is applied to the reception circuit 1 and a display circuit 2. Thus, the power supply is interrupted automatically in the absence of the television broadcast to prevent wear of a battery or the like.
