The wheel-slip control has detectors measuring wheel speed. The arithmetic average speed of both driven wheels is used as reference for comparing with the speed of one of the two undriven wheels pref. the slower wheel. When a given difference is exceeded the device (29) that controls the engine's torque is actuated. The speeds of the driven wheels are compared with the average and, if a given limit is exceeded, the device (33,37) that controls the faster driven wheel is actuated. A further device is used to detect aquaplaning. The advantage lies in allowing each wheel to deliver its max. possible drive force.
