<p>The coupling is used on scaffolding to connect eg. a double rail (6, 7) and a post (3) the coupling providing a hook (4) with a pivotable gate (9) for attachment to the rail, with an assymentric tapered sleeve (2) surrounding the post. All sleeve walls are vertical except the front (23) which is inclined to subtend a nominally obtuse angle with the bottom edge. Slots (19) which open out on the top edge and run parallel to the inclined wall locate stub axles from a roller (16) with criss-cross face grooving (15), the arrangement allowing upward movement of the coupling relative to the post but automatically locking against downward movement.</p> |
