<p>1448985 Release coatings PRESTIGE GROUP Ltd 30 Aug 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 53097/72 Heading B2E A coloured release coating is obtained on an article by applying a pigmented synthetic resin basecoat to the article, partly curing it sufficiently to allow adherence but to prevent cross transfer of the pigment to a top coating of unpigmented silicone resin which is then applied over it, and fully curing the two coatings. The basecoat may contain an epoxy resin or a styrene-maleic anhydride resin, and it may also be of a silicone resin material which may be the same as that used in the top coating. The substrate may be a kitchen utensil. The substrate may be first cleaned with a suitable organic solvent or by a water base cleaning. The top or both coatings may include additional additives such as an additional silicone resin having better release properties than the basic resin material. The method may be used for coating articles of tin and aluminium.</p> |
