The measuring and recording equipment has a drip chamber connected to an infusion bottle, and via a hose directly or by means of an infusion pump to a syringe inserted in the patient's circulatory system. A drop detector fitted to the chamber comprises a light source and receiver cell. The source (55) and the cell (57) are so mounted at the detector periphery (19) that the bundle of rays emitted and received overlap at a common cross-sectional area of the drip chamber. The cell output is connected via a comparator and a trigger stage to a ditigal counter.
