The brake fluid reservoir has a standby chamber linked to the main chamber by a hole under the minimum level in the main chamber. The standby chamber is sealed from the main chamber so that the fluid can only flow to the main chamber when the minimum level is reached. The vent hole for the standby chamber is sealed off by the cover for the reservoir. The main chamber level falls to the minimum level and actuates the minimum level detector to warn the driver. The standby chamber then provides sufficient fluid for the vehicle to reach a garage.
