PURPOSE:To obtain the endless belt form photoreceptor which is highly durable and is capable of performing high speed copying without using any special material as base by applying the specific phosphoric acid treatment to an endless non-magnetic stainless steel hoop then providing a photosensitive layer on the outside surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:Both end parts of an austenite base non-magnetic stainless steel hoop is butted and are welded by using an electron beam, laser, etc. to form a seamless and endless belt. Next, the abovementioned endless belt is dipped in an aqueous solution containing palladium chloride and hydrochloric acid to let Pd of fine powder form deposit on the stainless steel surface, after which it is dipped in a heated concentrated phosphoric acid solution to etch and oxide the surface with Pd as a catalyst, thereby forming the undulated surface carrying an oxide film. Next, the endless belt having undergone the treatment is washed and dried, after which selenium, selenium alloy or other is evaporated on its surface to form a photosensitive layer, whereby the photoreceptor is formed. In place of Pd, other platinum group elements (e.g., Pt) may be used as the catalyst for the abovementioned phosphoric acid treatment. |
