On the forward-moving appliance for extracting coal, or similar, and carrying it away, in mine galleries, the extracting machine is guided on a rail with guide channels, on the side of a conveyor. It is moved by cylinder assemblies along the gallery. The guide rail (11) is a self-rail, directly engaged by the forward movement cylinders (17). These have stops (20) on the other side, retaining a towed walling section (19) made of sheet metal plates. Between these and the guide rail are devices (22) guiding a scraper chain or other conveyor belt. The cylinders may be supports for the conveyor.
