A synchronous electric motor has an excitation coil in a claw-type stator with poles arranged in main pole groups and in auxiliary pole groups. The auxiliary pole groups are loaded with short-circuiting rings. The claw-type pole system projecting from the stator parts is mounted using a coil former covered on both sides by covers which fit together by a snap mechanism and are inserted into the stator casing.
