PURPOSE:To provide the subject hob wherein the edge contour is rendered into a waveform of a specific pitch which is continued to the range of a tooth top edge part and in which the range of the crest part and that of the bottom part are continued by a tangent, thereby to reduce the cutting resistance and prevent the resonance, enabling heavy cutting. CONSTITUTION:The cutting edge contour consists of a tooth top edge 1 and both- side surface edges 2 forms a waveform of a specific pitch which is continuous to the range R of the tooth top edge, and in which the range R1 of the crest part and the range R2 of the bottom part are continued by a tangent. Gear cutting is carried out in a state where the both-side surface edges of a waveform of a specific pitch bite in the side surface of the tooth form of a gear to be cut. By these procedures, chips ground from the tooth top edge to the side surface edges are further cut in short pieces by the side surface edges, and hence chips are discharged easily and constituent tooth tops are not produced, thus cutting resistance and impact being heavily reduced and heavy cutting becoming possible. |
