A filter for removing ducts from gases comprises a vertical shell contg. superposed horizontal plates. Each plate is provided with a layer of filter material. Partitions disposed between the plates define with the shell on both sides of the plates an inlet chamber for gases contg. dust and an outlet for clean gases. The filter incorporates vertical channels for charging gases contg. dust and discharging clean gases. The channels are distributed uniformly around the shell and communicate with the inlet and outlet chambers respectively by openings in the shell. The inlet channels alternate with the outlet channels over the periphery of the shell. The inlet channels constitute expansion chambers and are fitted at their lower ends with means of discharging the dusts. The filter is more compact than existing filters of its type. It incorporates an expansion chamber which not only ensures removal of larger dust particles but also improves the feed of the filter plates and therefore increases the efficiency of the filter.
