<p>The powder is conveyed to the top of a spray treatment chamber through which it is allowed to descend by gravity. Liq. is sprayed into the chamber transversely to the flow of powder. The powder becomes moistened homogenesouly by tiny droplets of liq. before being discharged at the bottom of the chamber. Pref. the ratio of liq. to powder is controlled by metering the powder feed and the liq. supply to the chamber. After the prod. is discharged from the chamber, it is pref. agitated as it is conveyed to storage silos for a maturing period. The silos can be heated to shorten the maturing period. A pref. application is tanning protidic powders with formaldehyde soln. in the prepn. of feeding stuff for cattle.</p> |
