1515562 Additives containing amino acids B M BRENNER 16 May 1975 [17 May 1974] 20942/75 Addition to 1449471 Heading A2B [Also in Division C3] A foodstuff or fodder additive for supplementing the essential amino acid content comprises the reaction product of one or more of the essential amino acids methionine, lysine, threonine, tryptophan, methionylmethionine, glycylmethionine, glycylglycylmethionine, methionylglycine, glycyllysine, methionine-amide, methionine ethyl ester or the precursor α-amino-#-methylmercapto - butyronitrile and a water-insoluble carbohydrate or physiologically tolerated chemically modified derivative or other naturally occuring polydroxy compound containing intermolecular and/or intramolecular bridges formed in a previous reaction by phosgenation or cyanation, the constituents being bonded in such a way that the amino acid is capable of being liberated in the digestive tract as such or in an assimilable form and decomposes on alkaline hydrolysis to yield CO 2 , at least one essential amino acid or animilable derivative and at least one polyhydroxy compound. The carbohydrates are generally pectin, alginates, agar, hemicellulose or gum arabic. |
