Contacting appts. for heat and mass exchange columns - with laminate between deck plates splitting gas flow

A contacting arrangement for heat and mass exchange columns, used for rectification, absorption, desorption, humidification or dedusting, with several decks of plates, has vertical partitions and channels in a checkerboard pattern for gaseous agents and for liquid agents. The top edges of the vertical partitions of each lower plate are joined to the bottom edges of the next higher plate by inclined laminae which split the gas flow into separate streams. This raises the load capacity as regards the gas phase, improves the liquid/gas ratio in the working contact zone and results in a better efficiency.
