<p>A toroidal chamber is divided in a plane at right angles to its axis into a stator shell with adjacent inlet and outlet ports separated by the block, and has a bladed rotor shell. The central portion of the block is of the same section as the semi-toroidal stator in which it is mounted, and has two vanes (16) extending in the peripheral direction of the stator and in opposite directions, thus partly masking the inlet (11) and outlet (12) ports. The width of each vane decreases towards the free end. the vane thickness can also taper in the same direction. Each vane can be curved so as to merge smoothly into the block.</p> |
