Composite metal and plastics component - made by injecting plastics at position of hole in metal plate

A composite component comprises a metal plate with plastics on both faces. The plate contains at least two holes, through which the plastics material is continuous; there is at least sufficient material on one side of the metal plate to form a firm lock or bridge across two or more holes in order to retain the plastics on the opposite side of the plate in position. At least one of the holes is immediately opposite the injection sprue. High dimensional accuracy and stability and high resistance to tearing are obtd. Stress concns. resulting from the location of a sprue away from one of the holes are avoided.
