PURPOSE: To facilitate the optimum removal of the residue of a developing material at first and second zones by switching one or a plurality of corona producing devices between voltage levels. CONSTITUTION: A printing machine is constituted of corona producing devices 65 and 66 arranged in the vicinity of a charge holding surface and characterized by an electric parameter, a controller setting the electric parameter to a first level so as to make a first developed image to a first charge level in the case the first developed image passes through the devices 65 and 66, and changing the electric parameter to a second level in order to make a second developed image to a second charge level in the case the second developed image passes through the devices 65 and 66, and a cleaning member 104 brought into contact with the charge holding surface and substantially removing both parts of the first and second developed images from the charge holding surface; and the function of the member 104 for removing the parts of the first and the second developed images from the charge holding surface depends on the size of the first and second levels. |
