The moistening equipment is for a lithographic duplicator having a rotary plate cylinder. It incorporates a moisture-detectionroller with an absorbent surface (26), the moisture being transported to the plate on the cylinder by a mechanism including a roller with an ink-receiving surface, driven at a predetermined speed in proportion to that of the cylinder, and on which a continuous coating of lithographic ink is maintained. Moisture is supplied at a controlled rate to the detection roller, which is held against the ink-receiving roller so as to be driven from it via the ink and moisture, so that the speed of the detection roller is dependent on the amount of moisture. A resistive torque is applied to the detection roller, varying progressively with its speed of rotation, no mechanical friction being used. |
