The system brakes bricks in a kiln, a stack being formed in the latter so as to guide the combustion air along the bricks. The bricks are delivered into the kiln by a vehicle having a lifting device extending in the lengthwise direction at the forward end and lifting a plate with bricks on it, the bricks in the lowermost row being spaced apart. A plate is placed above each pair of plates alongside each other.
