The starting and stopping times of the rotating element are precisely presettable. An AC motor is mounted pref. coaxially with the axis of rotation of the rotating element giving the display in the gaming machine. The synchronous driving motor is frequency controlled during starting and stopping, so that during stopping the frequency is gradually reduced. The starting function is produced by an integrating circuit (7) which is connected to a VCO (8). The VCO is connected to the field windings (9) of the motor (1).
