<p>A composite section, composed of two metal sections and plastics sections arranged in pairs to join them together has its connection formed as follows. Each plastics section or strip is of C-section, the arms of the strip penetrating into box-shaped recesses in the metal. When initially inserted there is no positive engagement, but when the two metal sections are pressed together adhesive surfaces bond the plastic to the metal. The adhesive may be inserted into recesses in the face of the plastics strip. A dry adhesive may be used. Specifically, a multi-component adhesive may be sprayed into the box-recesses of the metal sections. It is easy to introduce the comparatively loose fitting plastics strip into the space between the metal components, but after the adhesive has been activated by pressing the metal components together a firm bond, resistant to movement in any direction, is achieved.</p> |
