<p>A water soluble resin ester is prepd. by reaction of a polyol (I) e.g. trimethylol-ethane, -propane-butane, of functionality 3-3.5 of C:O ratio 5:3-5:3 with a 3-10C polycarboxylic acid (II) where molar ratio of (I):(II) is 1.9:1-3:1. (II) is o-phthalic, isophthalic, malonic, succinic etc. acids or anhdrides. The resin is a diester (ratio polyol:acid 3:1 equivalents) or polyester (ratio 1.9:12.5:1) of acid no. 10. The ester is used with larger amts. of water soluble aminoplast than when known polyesters are used to give a hardenable flexible coating for polywood.</p> |
