An ostomy appliance for receiving excreted body wastes from persons who have undergone colostomy, ileostomy or urostomy operations. The appliance includes a flexible bag 1 apertured to allow the excreted wastes to enter. The bag aperture is surrounded by a seal which consists of an apertured backplate 7 secured to the bag around the bag aperture so that the bag and backplate apertures are in register. The surface of the backplate which in use faces the wearer is provided with at least one sealing member 9, 12 which stands proud of the backplate and the outer surface of which is rounded. <IMAGE> |
