Heat exchanger for heat pump - absorbs ambient heat using heat pipes embedded in granular coke exposed to solar energy

The heat exchanger draws heat from the environment for a heat pump system. The exchanger has a pipe system carrying refrigerant or alternatively the liq. for heating the refrigerant. The heat exchanger ensures high heat exchange rate in relation to its size. The pipe-line is held in a bed made of granular carbon or coke. This coke bed is, in turn, in thermal contact with the ambient medium. The pipe-line of the heat exchanger is embedded into a layer of fine granular coke which is enclosed by coarser coke layers. This coke bed is exposed to direct solar radiation. The coke bed can have also a fan for blowing ambient air into the coke bed.
