<p>The baffles are inclined at an angle such that a strong swirling action is imparted as the air flows to the centre of the contractor. At the base is a pool of water which becomes entrained by the vortex action. The larger droplets begin to migrate out, caused by the centrifugal action. The baffles cause both atomisation and aggregation, and the net effect is that a small amount of water forms a fairly stable cloud continuously migrating both inwards and outwards. Water leaving with the air is disentrained in a vessel above, while water reaching the scroll wall drains off from the bottom. Excellent gas/liquor contacting is achieved. Used for humidification and gas scrubbing for dust removal.</p> |
