PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially remove an occurrences of undesired color shift by producing a conversion color value, in accordance with a specified expression with a color value in a color space, and an opaque degree value and a mat color value of the color space. SOLUTION: The mat color M of an alpha multiplying-type image can be converted effectively into a new mat color M' by controlling the respective colorant values in respective samples, in accordance with an expression F'=Fm+(1-α)(M'-M). Here F represents the original color value of an image, and F' represents a converted color value.αis the degree of opaqueness of the image. In RGB and CMYK color spaces, an especially useful substitution mat color M' is a white color, namely, the brightest color value in the color space. When color data is thus converted, the image and a background can be mixed in accordance with a specified mix function 210. |
