<p>PURPOSE:To two-dimensionally arrange multiple elements on the same substrate while highly maintaining the reliability of the element by making part of the emitting section of the surface conduction type emitting element on the substrate a nonemitting section. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 2 and 3 are provided at a minor interval on an insulating substrate 1 such as glass, fine grains 5 made of the desired material are distributively arranged in this minor interval. When the proper voltage is applied across the electrodes 2 and 3 in this element, electrons are uniformly emitted from a linear electron emitting section in the vertical direction to the paper surface, a linear electron emitting element is obtained. When an additional thin film material 4 is stuck to part of this linear emitting section, The portion stuck with the thin film material 4 loses the electron emitting function and becomes a mere conductor or insulator. The emitting section can be divided into dot-shaped or linear emitting sections with the desired size by sticking the thin film material 4 with the desired area at the desired position of the emitting section.</p> |
