A motor-driven chain block has a main frame comprising a pair of steel plates 9 and 10, a motor 4, a reduction gear mechanism 6 comprising gears 12, 19, 17 and a sprocket 15 which is driven by the motor 4 through the gears to wind a chain 16. The motor 4 in a housing 4C extends through an aperture 10A in the plate 10 and into a recess 9A in the plate 9. The heavy stator core 4A, is disposed between the plates 9 and 10, ensuring that the weight of the block is sufficiently well balanced to allow it to hang vertically when suspended, the gear mechanism 6, braking mechanism 7, and sprocket 15, all being compactly arranged to give a small and light weight block. Furthermore the tight fit of the stator core 4A in the recess 9A and the motor housing 4C in the aperture 10A produces a particular overall rigidity of the block. <IMAGE> |
