<p>When large transport containers are lifted by cranes, a beam is used which has two bolts at each end which engage holes in the edges of the containers. It is difficult to align the beam with respect to the container, and the beam is designed to simplify this operation. The beam (2) has transverse beams (6, 7) rigidly attached at each end. These transverse beams have pads (8, 9) at each end, connected to each other by a cable (1a). When the beam (2) is lowered over a container the cable (10) slides over the sides of the container and facilitates the alignment of the beam (2) so that bolts carried by the pads (8, 9) can engage holes in the edges of the containers.</p> |
