<p>The means of humidifying and the means of heating are kept separate from each other, in a device for carrying out a pressing operation on textile materials, on materials containing textiles and esp. on garments. The plant comprises a top pressing shoe and a bottom pressing shoe which can be opened and closed. There are means of heating, humidifying, cooling and steaming. The steam is arranged to humidify the textile material and one or both pressing shoes are designed for applying heat. Arrangement provides a plant in which steam at varying temps. and pressures can be used, so that fabrics of all kinds can be handled without risk of damaged. At the same time the shoe cladding is not continuously exposed to steam at 130 degrees C, so that its working life is extended considerably. As arranged, the flexible cladding of the shoes has the additional advantage that should the operator feel that his hand is trapped, he can extricate it before the full pressure is reached.</p> |
