<p>Tubular elements such as pipes for oil, gas and water under pressure, are bent in the hot state by a hinged arm in which one end of the tube is clamped. A stationary girder, at first in parallel to the arm, guides the tube in sets of rollers. By motorised swivelling of the hinged arm the tube is pulled through the rollers as a heating device on the arm heats it up to the bending temp. and is bent through an angle of up to 360 degrees C. This avoids any shear or upsetting stress on the tubes and is a simple method of bending even pipes of large dia. Tubes of different dia. and/or different radii of curvature can be bent simultaneously.</p> |
