The earthing switch has an outer and an additional inner drive. The latter contains a primary coil (2) and a short circuit ring (4'), or a short circuit coil. The primary coil can be switched into the short circuit during the switching movement. Both the primary coil and the short circuit ring (or the short circuit coil) are relatively movable, thus forming an additional electrodynamic drive. Pref. the primary coil is stationary, and the short circuit ring is rigidly connected to moving switching pin (4). Alternately the ring and pin may be in one piece. The primary coil may form a functional unit with a sliding contact with such relative motion as to enable changing the inductance of the coil windings in the short circuit between zero and maximum.
