Oil slick collection system - uses floating plastics elements with roughened oil wetted surface

The bed of floating collector elements which have an adhesion area of better wettability by oil than water. After a time which suffices for the adhesion of an oil film the elements are collected together with the oil. The collector elements are hollow and have on the surface a number of bosses or spikes to give them an enlarged surface. Wave motion causes the whole surface to be wetted by the oil which floats on the water. A very simple procedure which requires little labour and has a high collection efficiency.
