Keyboard operated typesetting process using punched tape - derives format characteristics from auxiliary tape fed into reader head

The typesetting process uses a setting typewriter containing a projection screen and producing a punched tape of the tect to be set. A tape reader head produces a readable clear text from the tape, which also contains format characteristics in coded form. Only the text itself is punched into the tape from the machine keyboard, the characteristics being supplied by a prepared auxiliary punched tape, and punched into the main one by the reader head when the appropriate switch on the keyboard is actuated.
