<p>HIGH VOLTAGE SPLICE ASSEMBLY An insulated high voltage cable splice including a composite housing formed of an elastomeric insulating sleeve having a passage and an elastomeric electrically conductive sleeve embedded in the passage intermediate the ends thereof, the passage having an inside diameter slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the largest cable to be spliced. A connector having an outside diameter slightly larger than the inside diameter of the passage through the conductive sleeve in the composite housing and an inside diameter equal to the outside diameter of the conductor of the high voltage cable to be spliced, the connector including a plurality of radially offset axially staggered holes and being connected to the cable conductor by pins extending through each of the holes into electrical communication with the cable conductor. Electrically insulating adaptor tubes can be provided for high voltage cables having outer diameters smaller than the inside diameter of the passage of the composite housing, the adaptor tubes having outside diameters slightly larger than the inside diameter of the composite housing and an inside diameter slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the cable.</p> |
