CONTROLLING METHOD OF STOPPING OF COPYING PROCESSING UNIT OF COPYING APPARATUS

PURPOSE:To minimize the occurrence of side effect accompanied with emergency stop by stopping each copying processing unit in abnormal standby state if possible at the detecting of conveying abnormality of transfer paper in an electrophotographic copying apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Conveying abnormality detecting means 22 thru 24 are provided at plural positions in the conveying path of transfer paper P which is withdrawn from a transfer paper cassette 15 by a paper feed roller 16. The conveying abnormality of the transfer paper P is detected by these means 22 thru 24 and according to the position where the abnormality is detected, the respective copying processing units are so controlled that their time until stop differs. It is ideal to employ the optical type sensors combined with light sources and photosensitive elements for the abovementioned means 22 thru 24. By suitably controlling the time unitl the operation stop of each copying processing unit depending upon the position where the conveying abnormality of the transfer paper P was detected in this way, the occurrence of side effect at the emergency stop owing to conveying abnormality may be minimized.
