<p>The engine has its cylinder (7) and head (6) bolted together to leave small lateral passages (11) between them. Side blocks (8, 9) are bolted across the joint between cylinder and head. Each side block has a cylindrical passage (1, 2) through it and a tube (4, 5) revolves in this passage. Each tube has a port in it which comes in line with the passages between cylinder and head once in every revolution of the tube. The tubes are rotated at half engine speed. One tube forms the inlet port and the other the exhaust port. The elimination of valves allows a more efficient shape of the combustion space.</p> |
