A display and sales stand for records, magazines, road maps, street maps, brochures, books, greetings cards, etc., having compartments arranged one above the other in the manner of stairs, consists mainly of transparent plastic so that the stand itself is visually inconspicuous and allows good viewing of the articles displayed. The stand (1) can be designed in that, for example, a support (3) with attachment elements (4) is provided on its rear side so that this stand can be mounted or suspended on rails, shelf units, counter-supports or the like. The shelves (5) arranged in a step like manner can be bent with the rear walls (6) of the individual compartments from one piece made of transparent plastic or joined together from individual elements.
