Pipe and cable fireproof wall box - has compressed non-combustible material secured inside spaced gratings

The common wall-box for pipes and cables passes them through the wall, floor or ceiling of a concrete building which is largely fireproof and gastight. A rectangular wall opening has an angle-iron base frame cast in. Two gratings (5, 6) are mounted in the opening (2) and spaced apart, one being welded to the base frame (3) and the other movable. One or more layers (7) of compressed non-combustible material are joined to the inside of each grating and held in position by bolts (8) screwing into both gratings.
